Everyone has heard the saying "She believed she could so she did." Well, that's me.
The first time I remember saying "I can do this" after I finished reading a novel was in 1994. I was raising two kids, working a full-time job, taking care of eight roping horses, at least a dozen roping steers, a garden, and twenty acres of mowing.
Now I'm not saying I was doing all of this on my own. No way. My husband, Jim, and my daughter and step-son were in the mix too. It took all of us working our tails off every day to get it done just to start over the next day. You know what I'm talking about. Working, raising a family, paying bills, baseball, ballet, team-roping, barrel racing, soccer practice, football, laundry.... it ain't easy, is it? Takes everything you've got every day and some days, even that isn't enough, right?
The point I'm trying to make without dragging this out is that I had a dream. And that dream was to write romance novels. I wanted it so bad I could taste it. Feel it. The question was how do I get started? And, of course, life is still knocking on the door making demands on my time. Work. Family. Friends. And, good ole' Uncle Sam. You know what they say about death and taxes.
Fast forward to Two Thousand and Fifteen. I finally finished my first novel and had it published. What? Yep. Finally did it! After how many years? Twenty one! Since then, I have published six more books! My Christmas book, Sarah, Book 4 in the Angel Creek Christmas Brides, a series I wrote with a little help from my friends-Hildie McQueen, Sylvia McDaniel, Lily Graison, and my newest writer friend, Everly West. Sarah reached #11 in Amazon's New Release Category. I know! I'm still in shock.
So, here's a thank you to each and everyone of my readers who has spent your time and money to help me realize my dream to be a writer. It's every bit as awesome as I imagined it would be. It's full of hard work and long hours, but it's awesome!! I urge everyone of you to follow your dreams too. If I can do it, so can you. I promise. You can.
