My October newsletter went out yesterday via email with my usual contest question. This month's question was more than just an opportunity to enter my monthly contest to win a $20.00 Amazon gift card. This month's question has a purpose, and as the heading of this blog post indicates, just because I can, does that mean I should send out a newsletter to my subscribers every month?
I want my readers to look forward to interacting with me, not dreading another email in their already overloaded inbox. Since yesterday, when my October newsletter hit inboxes, I've received at least seventy-five responses to my question. Most people are happy to receive the email newsletter. That pleased me greatly I have to say. Others said they preferred more social media approaches such as receiving news about my new books and release dates via Facebook groups such as my Peggy's Posse.
Based upon the continuing comments I'm receiving about this question, I think a mixed bag of both email and social media is important for me to utilize in order to reach readers who wish to be notified of freebies, contests, new releases from both myself and my fellow authors, and just get to know each other better.
Starting with my November newsletter, I will be increasing my online presence using my Facebook Group Peggy's Posse for my readers who prefer social media interaction as well as continuing my monthly email newsletter.
Thanks to each and every one of you who has taken the time from your busy schedules to help me understand this critical question every author struggles with.
Take care and stay safe.
